Mom's Enrichment and Education

Designed to help moms get the education needed to be a successful parent, successful employee and re-enter the workplace after being a stay at home mom or change careers. The goals, dreams and desires of a mom are encouraged and achieved with the help of the moms education programs.

Education can be in the form of classes, degrees, certification, or other necessary workshops to further advance a mom towards her life purpose.

Enrichment can be in the form of identifying stay at home work programs, assisting in setting up a home based business, determining financial plans for success, directing and developing strong relationships, networking and strategies for success in the home, workplace, and life.

Moms are encouraged to participate in the one-on-one meetings to help determine their true passions, goals and life direction. These meetings help them to identify what their needs are and how to achieve their desired within their current life situation. Support groups and networking with multiple organizations help moms to become success, confident and proud of their accomplishments.

Children's Development

Mother Matters is dedicated to helping families be successful and thrive. One component is the mother and making sure that she is confident, happy and successful. This empowers her to be a better parent, role model and live a happy life. The second component is the child. Children need to see their parents succeed and be able to model positive behaviors. They also need to have the appropriate tools to succeed in life.

The children’s development center and children’s development fund are dedicated to helping children succeed. They are designs to remove the limiters and allow the child to thrive no matter what their social status or past history have shown. Every child deserves a chance to succeed. Helping the mom succeed shows the child that they too can succeed. These programs allow for tutoring, school supplies, and other forms of self esteem building from sports to music to dance to science camp. All success is applauded, no matter how big or small. We work with our own resources and other agencies to make sure that children know that they can and will be successful in life as long as they are dedicated and choose to follow their dreams.

Mentoring

Moms are encouraged to participate in our mentoring program. Moms with children of all ages are asked to work together to talk about the issues that all moms face when raising a child. Mothers of teens talk with mothers of college aged kids to find out how to deal with some of the issues that can arise and how to over come them. Moms of teens mentor moms of younger children to discuss how they overcame some of the challenges and so on.

It is a wonderful way to connect and help other moms through the issues that you have already experienced. Moms helping moms is a wonderful thing!

One-on-One Meetings

One goal at Mother Matters is to assist moms in living a happy and fulfilled life. Part of that includes dreams and aspirations, life goals and defining a purpose. One-on-one meetings help you to define your goals for you and your family as a blueprint and then develop an action plan to achieve your goals and aspirations for you and your family.

Groups Details:

Mommy and Me

A time to get together with other moms, bring your children to meet other kids and talk. Each meeting has a topic for discussion and handouts to take and read at home. The purpose of the meeting is to gain knowledge while exposing your kids to a fun learning atmosphere. Some topics include music education, color expression, and touch and feel experiential learning.

Mommy and me groups are offered twice a month. The educational material and speaker is included. Advance registration is required to ensure space for each mom and child.

Coffee Talk

This mom only group is held in the morning. Working and at home moms get together to discuss important issues surrounding being a mom and raising a child. Speakers and mini classes are a part of coffee talk to educate and expand thinking.

Time for mom is valuable. Coffee Talk allows moms to discuss what is going on in their lives, gain perspective from other moms who are also “living it”, and offer support to moms who need it. A monthly speaker or mini class will be provided on a topic such as parenting a teenager, nutrition for a toddler, or reconnecting with your partner. The group is open to all moms, moms of infants through teens and beyond. It is important to talk with other moms to see that we are not alone, that issues a mom faces is common from household to household. What we do with it and how we learn from it makes the difference.

Expecting Moms

Once a month expecting moms get together for dinner. A speaker will discuss important topics for moms to be. The dinner is a great place to connect with other soon to be moms, get important information, and connect with yourself prior to the birth of your baby.

Some of the topics include parent relationships after a child, parenting, baby food preparation, nutrition for you and your child, mommy and me exercises for home, top ten baby items that every home must have, and more.

Walking Group

Join a walking group and get together with other moms to walk, talk and enjoy the outdoors. If there isn’t a group near you, register a new location to add to our walking group list. It is that easy!

Register to join a walking group or start your own at a nearby park. Exercise is a great way to stay in shape, get fresh air, and talk about your experiences as a mom. Your kids also get to be outside and meet other kids. A stop at the local park for a brief play time is also a lot of fun for the kids and a good way for them to get some exercise and play.

Play Group

Join a kids play group and meet other moms, participate in interactive group activities and socialize while your kids make new friends.

At Mother Matters we are dedicated to developing well rounded children. The play groups are full of fun interactive activities designed to educate and enlighten children.

Family Fun

Once a month families are invited to go on an outing. This way the dads can meet and participate in fun family activities. In the summer the outings include the zoo, picnics in the park, and many other fun locations for kids and their families. During the winter the outings include the Children’s Museum, the Museum of Natural History and the Butterfly Pavilion.
